Drug Prescription for Children is Troubling

American children are three times more likely to prescribe psychotropic medication than children in Europe and that is very worrying.

Each year, more than 200 million drug prescriptions were written for children and adolescents in the U.S., according to the California Board of Pharmacy.

Over a period of two weeks in the United States, 13 million children take a prescription drug. And more than six million of them are taking prescription medications for chronic diseases such as asthma, epilepsy, attention deficit disorders, arthritis, and diabetes, which are the five major diseases that children take drugs.

The number of prescriptions for medications given to U.S. children is outrageous. Compared with children from other countries, U.S. children taking three times more prescriptions for drugs such as antidepressants and stimulants and to double the amount of antipsychotics for children in other countries.

The U.S. culture could encourage their children drugged. From a very young age, sometimes even before leaving the hospital at birth, children are given the medicine. Antibiotics for colds and ear infections are prescribed (although they do not work for this purpose), and pills for indigestion, fever, headaches and flu.

Children are taught that in order to “cure diseases” they need to go to the doctor and get a prescription. Or they have to go to the corner drugstore and get a little liquid gel-cap to cure diseases.

What makes matters worse, children are exposed to TV commercials, some with animated characters and talking animals, pedaling drugs to their parents and sometimes directly to teens.

It is now widely accepted that drugging our children is state mandated, forced medication has become a growing trend.

In one case, without the presence of a physician, when a tribunal decided to make a 6 years old with mild autism in five powerful antipsychotic drugs, although none of the drugs had been approved by the FDA for use in children . Unfortunately, the mother begged them not to do.

Now, besides the mind-altering drugs, young children, many other drugs are prescribed unnecessary to get a good night’s sleep, heartburn, or medication
statin drugs to lower cholesterol.

What is the problem here, none of these drugs treat the cause of the problem. Most of these ailments are easily overcome if you change the lifestyle habits.

It’s really a shame that instead of the doctor write a prescription for an ailment of the child, parents should help change the lifestyle habits of the child, which would be a much better solution. A better diet, daily exercise, other healthful nutrients added to the diet and stress relief could be even the same things that would improve the condition of the child.

But we must understand the doctors were not able to do that in medical school. I never got an adequate education in medical school at all intelligent nutrition. To this we add the fact that they receive a lot of pressure put on them by their professional organization overwhelming pressure they receive from pharmaceutical companies, and is why this happens.

Here are a strong warning that I recommend to all parents. Please do not let this happen to your child. Take a position on how your child should be treated and cared for and stick to what is good for his son before his son’s life is ruined forever.
